I've decided to start another blog for non-nautical topics. One that will have pictures and more random topics. So check out A Day In The Life.

Contemplation

I've been thinking about my late sister a lot lately. Probably due to the holidays being upon us. I've been thinking about "It's A Wonderful Life" too. The two are related. My sister was a wonderful person who was struck down in the prime of her life with a horrible illness. She suffered a long time before finally passing away due to a constellation of health problems this past January. I am realizing how much poorer my life is without her now. I realize that the message in "It's A Wonderful Life" is so universally true. We are all heroes in our own epic story. My sister was heroic beyond description. I find myself missing her now, even though she was sick and required the occasional afternoon, which was nothing. I find myself with a hole in my life and it reminds of the influence we all have on the people around us and how we touch so many lives and just like the Jimmy Stewart character George Bailey in Wonderful Life, when that person is gone it leaves a tremendous gap.
