Larry Lessig on Barack Obama

A friend of mine sent me an email with this link about Obama by Larry Lessig. It is worth your time to watch. It helped ease me into the idea that I might vote for Barack Obama.

Bob-Lo

Bob-Lo Island was an amusement park on a Canadian island at the end of the Detroit River, just before Lake Erie. My parents used to take us there every summer for many years, it was the high point of the summer for me usually. A friend of mine found these items on YouTube. One is a family video c. 1959 and the other one is a commerical for Faygo pop (That's what we folks in the Detroit area call Soda Pop, it's simply "pop") from the early 1970's.

Church Of The FSM

I don't know who is reading this blog any more but you may have noticed a button in the upper left corner of the webpage. That is my link to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Check it out.

Technical Corner

When I get some time, I want to check out a multivalued database that is both commercial and Open Source. It's called OpenQM and it's by a company called Ladybridge Systems.

Winter Wonderland

These were taken back in December. I hope we get some serious snow so we can do some more sledding.

Gaff Rigged Cutter

This gaff rigged cutter was passing by the U.S.S. Silversides last summer when we visited it. I'm a sucker for a gaff rig or anything that looks like a New England catboat.

U.S.S. Silversides

This past summer we visited the U.S.S. Silversides. A Gato class submarine that had one of the highest kill records in the war in the Pacific.

Diplomacy

I've started playing Diplomacy on the DPjudge, by a stroke of luck I have Italy which I have done well with in the past. I'll keep you updated.

Just A Nice Picture

The Palm camera isn't that great but it is around when I want it, which makes up sometimes for it's poor quality.

More Renaissance Festival Pictures

At the Michigan Renaissance Festival a wandering cleric performs an impromptu wedding ceremony this past summer.

Saturday In The Park

It was a great day for sledding. I took my son and met my brother and his two children and his dog at our ancestral sledding grounds, Balduck Hill. My son calls it a "mountain" and that is about the same recollection I had as a child.

St. Mary's in Greektown, Detroit

While in Detroit's Greektown I went inside St. Mary's Church for the first time. I felt compelled to take some pictures of this marvelous structure, but unfortunately the Palm camera fails miserably under these (and most other) conditions.

Detroit's Greektown

I used to hang out in Greektown a lot more when I was a young guy. I rarely go now, since they put up the casino, etc. For me, this area is ruined. On an impulse I was down their recently and took a few pictures with my Palm camera.

View From The Office

Just looking out my office window, this is what it looks like, pretty huh?

Partridge Creek

A fancy outdoor mall opened up in my area in the fall. Here is a picture:

Boat Show

This was the only picture I took at the Metropolitan Beach Boat Show this past Autumn.
