Boots Of Escaping!!!

I talked to my nephew today, and he is playing D&D, kind of like, for many years I played golf. Just to hang out with my buddies who played golf. So it reminded me of this Reno 911 bit. Too funny.

And this bit is pretty funny too.

Prepare For Bad Times

I've been reading lots of stories in recent weeks about the looming global food crisis. I was born near the zenith of the most prosperous time in American history. I come from a larger family, of which I was the last child, the "baby". I have never known really "bad times" before. My father was a skilled tradesmen and ended his career with one of the Big Three. He and my mother worked hard, were very frugal, saved their money and raised five of six children to maturity. There was always enough to eat it seemed to me, as a kid. I know there were days my mother did the "stretch" meals, but as a child, I never realized it was a "stretch" meal at all.

The reason for this post, is something I read on cab drollery, a blog which I now read daily. It is called "Food". It is a post that makes one take pause.

I have been aware for the last few years that the era of cheap energy is rapidly coming to a close. We are entering what James Howard Kunstler calls "The Long Emergency". It is for most of us, going to be an unprecedented time of hardship and deprivation. My own opinion and I think that of people like Kunstler is that it's going to be a crisis/catastrophe that will make the Great Depression look like a picnic.

Prepare for very difficult times. Stay out of debt. Keep your footprint small and light. Grow some vegetables. Lower your expectations.

Boat Lottery

It's that time again and I was fortunate enough to get a place at home port, so to speak.
