Desert Island Picks

I'm certain that most people who have ever listened to a lot of popular music at one time or another in their lives have engaged in the exercise of rating their favorite albums, in other words, what three albums would you want to have on a desert island if you were shipwrecked and had your solar powered CD player for company?

My picks:

The Beatles - Abbey Road
Nirvana - Unplugged
Rockpile - Seconds of Pleasure

That's my list for today. Post yours on the comments.

Jethro Tull ~ "Songs from the Wood"

"Twenty Years of Dirt" ~ The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Van Morrison ~ Any collection that includes "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Moondance"

Yeah, I'm old, and these are in my car along with other old timer music.

Life on the island is going to be boring with only three albums.

But, I would take;
1. Elvis Costello - Armed Forces. One of the best recods ever.

2. Dire Straights - Dire Straights. Sultan's of Swing remains one of the best songs ever.

3. Josh Rouse - Nashville. The best record that you don't own.

It is no fair taking a Greatest Hits collection, but we will let Nirvana Unplugged slide because of all of the original content. The cd would make my top five list.

I understand your aversion to "Best Of..." and "Greatest Hits" collections, but frankly my own music collection is loaded with that kind of stuff, especially since CD became the format for music distribution. Besides that, I can't get "Nick The Knife" on CD unless I wanna pay $50 for it.

Good picks, all of 'em.
